A charity has launched a new service which provides pensioners with domestic cleaning services. Age Concern Norfolk said the Home Domestic Service will initially be piloted in a sheltered housing unit on the outskirts of Norfolk and will be subsequently rolled out across the country.
The scheme, which begins on January 25th, will also provide additional support services such as help with shopping and odd jobs around the house in addition to the domestic cleaning services. All cleaning professionals employed on the scheme will carry an identity card and their work will be closely monitored to ensure a high level of service is always provided.
Kate Rudkin, head of development and operations at Age Concern Norfolk, said the service is particularly aimed at the vulnerable and those who are unable to help themselves properly. “Age Concern Norfolk’s Home Domestic Service is designed with older people in mind and will be tailored to the individual,” she said. “These services could be of particular use to older people who may find it difficult to get out and about or simply need a helping hand.”
